1. General information
The objective and approach of the dental clinic management course is to provide the student with a comprehensive training in the areas of business management and occupational risk prevention, typical of a dental clinic manager in areas of business management and occupational risk prevention, typical of a person responsible for the management of a dental clinic dental clinic.
Good management implies having skills in management, organization and development of the services offered, collaborating in the implementation of quality systems and human resources management, and being trained in health and risk prevention quality systems and human resources management, and being trained in health and prevention of occupational hazards to which one is exposed in the dental clinic risks to which one is exposed in the dental clinic
These approaches and objectives are aligned with the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations Agenda 3020 3020 of the United Nations, in such a way that the acquisition of the learning outcomes of the subject provides training and competency to contribute to some extent to the achievement of targets 3.4 and 3.5 of Goal 3, target 4.4 of Goal 4, and targets 12.4 and 12.5 of Goal 4 Objective 4 and targets 12.4 and 12.5 of Objective 12.
2. Learning results
Demonstrate theoretical and practical skills in aspects of design, organization and management of dental services.
Recognize and apply decision-making, human resource management, information management and program evaluation techniques.
Demonstrate knowledge to collaborate in the implementation of quality systems to be applied in the management of dental services and to manage the basic ICT tools used in the dental field.
Knowledge of basic computer applications used in the management of dental services
Know and understand the importance of occupational health and occupational risk prevention as part of the management of a dental clinic.
Recognize the main occupational hazards faced by dentists and other professionals working in a dental clinic, as well as to know the different tools and modalities of preventive action to avoid risks to which they is subjected in daily practice.
Identify and differentiate the harmful outcome that occupational hazards can cause to workers' health in the form of occupational diseases, occupational illness, accidents and occupational disabilities.
Provide training and competency in the Sustainable Development Goals
3. Syllabus
The subject Dental Practice Management is structured in two thematic blocks that comprise a total of 12 topics
Block I: Company organization and management
1. The company and the work environment.
2. The management process
3. The financial area
4. Human resources management (HR)
5. The operations subsystem in the dental clinic
6. Quality and management of dental services
Block II: Occupational health and occupational risk prevention in the management of dental clinics
1. Basic concepts in occupational health: Work environment and conditions. Occupational risks, classification of risks, prevention and evaluation of risks, basic principles of preventive action. Dental risk analysis 2. Occupational health and health surveillance, protocols for specific health surveillance of workers, protocols in odontology
3. Concepts and developments in ergonomics, hygiene and occupational safety in the dental clinic
4. Occupational accident, occupational disease, occupational illness, occupational disability, sensitive workers 5. Legal framework in occupational health and occupational risk prevention, competent bodies and institutions 6. Design of the prevention plan and its application in dentistry
4. Academic activities
The timing of the different activities will be elaborated according to the academic calendar and the timetable established by the center the final practical work must be presented at the end of the term
Participative master classes:
Face-to-face. 40 hours. Presentation of the basic theoretical contents of the subject
Practical classes in the classroom:
Face-to-face. 20 hours. These practical classes are taught in coordination with the theory classes. Certain exercises can be used to develop new aspects of knowledge that have not been the subject of previous explanations. The teacher's role will be that of guide and moderator
In order to consolidate and develop learning, assignments may be requested
Study and personal work.
Non-face-to-face activities. 86 hours
Tutoring.
At the student's request to resolve doubts, orient and guide the student in the realization of the practical cases and documents to be completed.
Assessment tests.
Face-to-face 4 hours.
5. Assessment system
Students must demonstrate that they have achieved the intended learning results by means of the following assessment activities
Continuous assessment
The subject can be passed with a passing grade (5) by attending at least 80% of the theoretical and practical classes, as well as the completion and delivery of all practical work proposed by the teachers with sufficient quality and adequacy to the program.
In order to obtain a higher grade, a written test will be established for each of the blocks that make up the subject, consisting of a 25-multiple choice question test
Final evaluation.
For students who do not pass the subject through continuous evaluation, there will be a final evaluation of each of the blocks that make up the subject in order to obtain a passing grade or, if applicable, a grade higher than a passing grade, consisting of the following in:
1.- Written test: 25-question multiple-choice test plus two reserve questions. The wrong answers or blank answers are not discounted . To pass this test, 60% of the multiple choice questions must be correct. This test represents 50% of the final grade.
2.-Practical exam: Consisting of the elaboration of two practical cases in which it will be necessary to apply the contents seen during the term . It represents 50% of the final grade.
To pass the subject by means of the final evaluation it is necessary to pass the written test and the practical exam of each one of the blocks of the subject and to have delivered all the works proposed by the teachers with sufficient quality and adequacy to the program of the subject.
Final grade.
The grade for each of the two blocks that make up the subject will be 50% of the final grade.
